“I’ve wanted to do this for years – and I haven’t. I don’t feel ready.”
When Jan talks about their idea, their face lights up and they can’t stop smiling. They know what they’d like to do.
They’ve been thinking about it for years.
And then the insecure thoughts kick in.
Why would they hire you when you have no experience?
I have no idea how to do this.
I’m just not ready.
So Jan sits on the idea for another day. Month. Year.
It can feel so much safer thinking about it than to leap into the world of action where mistakes, failures and rejections can happen.
Why don’t we do what we say we want to do?
Recently, I heard someone say:
If you’re not doing it, you don’t want it enough.
I think that’s pretty true. Because when we really want something – and we don’t have anything on it – we just do it.
If you say you want it, and the thought of it sparks your being, but you’re not doing it, there’s something you want more. Something seems to be at stake.
You care more about…
Staying safe.
Not being judged.
Getting it right.
Knowing what you’re doing.
Avoiding failure.
What other people might think.
The list goes on. There are a million reasons to justify why we’re “not ready” to do something that scares the shit out of us.
None of them are true. They’re just a reeking crap-wad of THOUGHT that feels very relevant and real.
The truth is:
You’re not ready until you take action.
Action is the great short-cut. The magic that kicks in the creative power of the universe. The catalyst for the change you wish to see in your life.
What action can you take right now to know that you’re actually doing the thing you’ve been talking about?
You’re the only one who knows what this is. It’s the sign you recognize as, “Yes – I’m finally doing it!”
It might be publishing a website, declaring your project on Instagram, or hiring a tutor for private lessons.
What if you take that action today?
If you take that action, the not-readiness is gone and you’re on the path to making your dream real.
All that stuff that feels like it’s at stake? It doesn’t matter.
When you know there’s nothing at stake because you’re okay no matter what happens, you’re unstoppable.
I can help you rediscover your unstoppable creativity and get your ideas out of your head and into the real world. A book you can hold in your hands, client appointments on your calendar, a sold out retreat.
And we’ll do it through joy and play.
Right now I have openings for two new 1:1 clients who’d like to hire me to make their dreams a reality. Reply to this email and we’ll have a leisurely chat to explore the adventures on offer.
Who knows? Responding to this email might just be the action that kicks your ass in gear and makes your idea come alive.
Yours in love and play,
Steph
