Have you ever had one of those days where you just felt…uninspired?
There’s a blog post to be written.
Or a social media post to be scheduled.
Or an offer you’d like to make for new clients.
And you’ve got NOTHIN’.
Well, you’re in the right place, talking to the right gal. ‘Cuz when I show up, things get inspiring.
(I don’t know how it happens, but seriously. Inspiring is usually the first word people use to describe being with me. It’s like my special brand of energy-gasm.)
The first thing you need to know when you’re feeling stuck is…
Stop.
Stop trying. Stop pushing. Stop forcing.
And stop being so damn serious about it!
Creativity and inspiration show up when you’re having fun, following your curiosity, playing and doing nothing.
So let’s get our playful nothingness on, shall we?
Here are some ways to bust out of your funk and court the Inspiration Muse without breaking a sweat.
Warning: I like to walk on the crazy and fun side, just so you know.
Ready?
#1 – Write down 30 crazy, ridiculous things you’d like to create as fast as you can.
The secret is…
DON’T TRY TO MAKE SENSE AND DON’T THINK!
Get weird and impossible. Stretch as far as you can.
If it takes more than 10 minutes, you’re thinking too hard. Cut it out. Just write.
#2 – Read through your list of crazy, weird, awesome ideas and notice any themes.
Do you mention plants or animals or spirits repeatedly?
Do your ideas involve travel or writing or play?
Are you in front of an audience or by yourself?
Jot down anything you notice.
#3 – Sleep on it.
Einstein got 10 hours of sleep a night…and took naps during the day. And he’s just one of the creative geniuses who understood the power of sleep.
These crazy ideas carry the seeds of something you would absolutely LOVE to create that you haven’t yet considered.
You already have everything you need to get inspired.
Let it marinate in that powerful creative unconscious mind of yours.
Just let them be without trying to figure anything out. It will come.
#4 – Without looking at your list, answer these questions.
What would be so fun and inspiring that you’d love to do it every day for a whole week? A month? A year?
If all your needs were met — and all your loved ones’ needs — what would you do with your days that would fill your heart with joy?
If you could do anything — and I mean ANYthing — and success was guaranteed, what would that be?
What would you love to fail at? What would be so joyful in the attempt that even if you fail, it would still be amazing?
#5 – Quickly choose 3 words out of whatever you’ve written down.
Create something with those 3 words.
It could be a blog post. A blurb for social media. A story. (Lawd, I love stories!)
It might be an offer or a new service.
Grab those words and create something with them.
#6 – Do something you love that has nothing to do with any of this.
If you’re feeling uninspired, chances are good that your body and being need a little attention.
Ask yourself, “What would feel really good right now?”
“What are my body and being asking for?”
“What would be the most fun?”
And give that to yourself.
If you can’t come up with anything, steal one off my list:
- Put on your favorite song and dance around like an idiot.
- Take a walk in a beautiful place.
- Take a luxurious bath.
- Have an orgasm.
#7 – Give yourself permission to be whatever you like for the next 60 minutes.
If you could get permission to be anything, what would that be?
Now, give yourself that permission. Just for the next hour.
Notice what it does to your energy.
When I first answered this question, I wanted permission to be an asshole.
Not so that I could BE an asshole — just so that I’d never have to worry about what anyone thought about me ever again.
If I had permission to be an asshole, anything I might do or say would be okay.
It’s such a relief!
And ever since I’ve had more freedom to serve my clients and speak my truth powerfully.
So give yourself permission to be that thing, just for a little while. Try it on and see how it feels.
Stepping Into the Unknown: Results Unpredictable
Here’s the thing about unlocking your creativity:
You can’t “make” it happen and there’s no guaranteed formula for results.
However, one thing I know…
You will feel inspired and creative again. It’s what we’re designed to do.
If you’re ready to step into your Wild Creation…
Activate, accelerate and amplify it…
…with curiosity, imagination and playful inquiry…
Let’s talk!
You’re invited to a free Wild Creation session in which we’ll invite the creation of anything you desire — a new idea, project, business, offer, limerick, you name it.
Try out one or more of these ideas and let me know what you discover.
What do you think?
