A string walks into a bar.
The bartender says, “Sorry, we don’t serve strings.”
The string goes into the bathroom, tangles himself up and frazzles his ends. He walks up to the bartender who says, “Hey, aren’t you that string that was just in here?”
And the string says, “No, I’m a frayed knot.”

This is my favorite bad joke, one I learned and told to my step-sons decades ago, when they were already old enough to know just how awful – awfully good, in my opinion- – it is.
Last month I attended a five day training with Michael Neill called The Awakeners. About 50 people gathered either in person or by live stream.
Michael asked every one of us to tell a joke. One by one, we stood up and shared groan-worthy jokes only a kindergartener could be proud of.
This was the only joke I could almost remember, and I hadn’t told it in years. My setup was flawed and my delivery was off, probably because I was nervous, but I did it.
I laughed so hard at us!
It was liberating to feel a little shaky, do it anyway, and see that I survived. Even better, we had fun.
You can read English Humor For Beginners and you can rehearse jokes in the mirror, but the only way to get better at telling jokes is by telling them to real people.
Real learning in life and business comes by doing.
Want to make an offer that turns strangers into paying clients?
Create an invitation, make it, and see what happens.
You’ll get clarity in creating your offer, get over your insecurities in sharing, and find real feedback in the results.
It’s easier and much more fun doing it with a group of people who are all facing the same challenge. You’re on the learning curve together, making mistakes, trying new things and growing.
This is exactly what we’ll be doing in the CREATE program.
In just four weeks, each of us will create, test and launch a new offering. One simple step at a time.
The grand finale will be a Silent Auction where you’ll get to set your offer free in the wild of The Awakened Business community, and maybe get your first paying clients.
I may even tell some bad jokes, so you can see what happens when I make a fool of myself. (Spoiler alert: we all survive.)
Yours in love and play,
Steph
