My ex-husband was an amazing bargain shopper.
He had a nose for a good deal, and a talent for snagging the triple-coupon discount at Stop & Shop. Sometimes we’d get items completely free.
Oh, the gleeful triumph of gaming the system!
Our cupboard was well stocked in Crystal Light and Hamburger Helper mix…which neither of us actually wanted to eat.
When I remarked about why we were buying this stuff, Jeff would grin and say, “It was free!”
And then I’d throw it out anyway. 😄
Free doesn’t always mean valuable.
In fact, we often value things more when we pay for them. This is especially true when it comes to transformation. Let me explain:
Working as a coach is a funny thing. Everything a client “gets” from coaching is already within them.
The transformation is entirely created by them. The wisdom is already theirs.
And if you want advice, you can generate an action plan with ChatGPT in minutes.
So why pay a coach for transformation so they can tell you what you already know and point to the resources you already have?
I’ve invested over $100,000 in coaching over the past 15 years, and I’ve coached for just as long. Here’s what I know:
Paying for coaching isn’t just a transaction. It’s a commitment.
To pay someone $500, $1,000 or $10,000 for transformation, you have to be the person who’s that committed to growth. The moment you invest, your transformation is already underway.
Once you’ve paid, you show up differently.
You’re more open, honest and willing to consider new ideas, even when it feels uncomfortable.
When transformation is free or self-guided, we treat it casually. We check out when the going gets gnarly and avoid resistance to stay safe.
That’s why I happily pay for coaching. Not because I “need” it, but because I know how powerful it is for creating the transformation I desire.
And that’s why I charge for coaching, too.
I’ve seen the ROI it delivers, not just in external success, but in joy, alignment and peace.
Paying is part of the transformation, and so is receiving money for the transformation you help to create.
That’s why our next exploration in the IMPACT membership is about:
🔥 How to Turn Connected Conversations Into Clients
We’ll roleplay “selling” situations and discover how natural and valuable it can be to ask for (and receive money) for your powerful service.
If you’re ready to step into the joyful experience of getting paid to coach – this is your moment to join us.
